Insert Bearings

Turner insert bearings are replaceable components designed for use in our mounted ball bearing units, allowing worn bearings to be replaced without changing the entire housing assembly. Each series is engineered for a unique combination of load requirements and operating conditions, with different locking methods used to secure the inner ring to the shaft.

SAE 52100 steel inner and outer rings provide consistent hardness and fatigue resistance to increase service life.

Steel retainers are more durable under heat, shock, and variable loading than polymer cages.

Standard contact seals retain grease and block common industrial contaminants.

Shaft Locking Options

Turner offers multiple shaft locking systems to accommodate different installation methods, rotation profiles, and shaft tolerance conditions. Locking method availability depends on insert series, housing style, and shaft diameter.

Set Screw Locking

Set screw locking secures the inner ring by tightening two screws radially through the ring and into the shaft surface. As the screws are torqued, they create localized contact points that resist relative rotation between the shaft and bore. This method is best suited for general-duty applications with moderate loads and steady or reversing rotation, particularly where slip-fit shafting, rapid installation, and cost-effective replacement are priorities.

Eccentric Locking Collar

Turner’s Tru-Loc concentric locking system uses a split collar to clamp segmented inner ring sections uniformly around the shaft, creating a concentric grip without point-contact distortion or shaft scarring. By maintaining proper inner ring alignment and ball-path geometry, Tru-Loc reduces vibration for smoother operation and consistent performance in high-speed, reversing, and alignment-sensitive applications.

Tru-Loc™ Concentric Locking

Tapered Adapter Sleeve

Adapter sleeve locking secures a tapered bore bearing to a cylindrical shaft using an adapter sleeve, locknut, and washer. Tightening the locknut draws the sleeve into the bearing’s tapered bore, causing it to expand radially and create an interference fit with the shaft. This design provides superior 360-degree holding power and is ideal for high-speed and reversing applications.
